Basic characteristics

  • Reduction of distances
  • Multi-stage transports
  • Optimum control
  • Avoidance of waiting times
  • Congestion-free guidance
  • Even utilisation

The truck guidance system is one module in the Jungheinrich warehouse management system and it coordinates the allocation of transport orders in your warehouse. Our truck guidance system can optimise your warehouse system by managing your fork lift truck fleet as well as the transport tasks to be undertaken. Depending on the transport order and priority, the transport orders are sorted into a prioritised sequence and sent to the appropriate truck as a job order.

Advantages in overview

  • Creation of double cycles
  • Managing the truck fleet
  • Reduced number of empty runs
  • Prioritisation
  • Multi-stage transports allow greater efficiency
  • Coordination of the trucks

Advantages in detail

Creation of double cycles

By combining stacking and retrieval actions, our truck guidance system reduces the number of empty runs.

By assigning priorities, our truck guidance system takes into account different date requirements. To ensure that unsuitable transport orders do not remain unprocessed, the priority can be raised as the waiting time increases.

Managing the truck fleet

Our truck guidance system assigns the fork lifts to the work areas according to their characteristics. On the basis of this assignment, the system is able to select the right fork lift truck for assignment of a transport order.

Multi-stage transports allow greater efficiency

In many warehouses, there is a need for multi-stage transports to be carried out. For example, the truck requirements for transport in the racking levels or transport in narrow aisles are very different. In order to use the appropriate trucks for the respective transport distances, the routes are divided into several segments which are connected by handover points. The handovers of the transport units at the transfer point are controlled by our truck guidance system, so there are no waiting periods and the buffer does not overflow.

Reduced number of empty runs

In addition to the creation of double cycles that already help to reduce the number of empty runs, these can be further reduced by a handling function. Our truck guidance system always checks whether, there are transport units located en route on an empty run section.

Coordination of the trucks

Particularly in narrow-aisle warehouses, where trucks cannot overtake on both sides, rules such as an exclusive aisle reservation are to be coordinated. In other words, the Jungheinrich WMS grants a truck the exclusive use of one aisle within the warehouse to carry out a transport task. At the same time, no other truck can be directed into this aisle.
